Cook Time 50 minutes mins
- 1 red onion
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 1 mild chili
- 2 tbsp rapeseed oil
- 1 tin of (400 g) crushed tomato
- 1/2 dl ketchup
- 1/2 dl red wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 dl brown sugar
- 1 tbsp mustard
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika powder
Peel and finely chop the onions. Deseed and remove stems from the chili peppers and chop them into fine cubes.
Sweat the onion-chili pepper mix in a pan with oil for a few minutes. Add the crushed tomatoes and the rest of the ingredients.
Bring the mix to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer on medium heat for approximately 30 minutes without a lid, until the sauce thickens. Periodically stir the mixture.
Add the finely chopped liquorice, salt and pepper. Continue to cook until the liquorice has melted.
Use a stick blender to roughly blend the sauce to create a chunky mix.
Serve as a sauce for e.g. meat or chicken.
